Apart from the colour change what else has changed on the new Asics Gel Kayano 16?

The shoe has had an overall weight reduction which has allowed the rear of the shoe to accommodate the large GEL cushioning system used for greater shock reduction. As with the Kayano 15 the, heel stability is maintained by the TPU plate placed directly over the silicone gel unit.

The forefoot of the Asics Gel Kayano 16 features a new Solyte cap placed directly over the forefoot. GEL cushioning system. The injected Solyte enhances consistent density, ensuring the feel is more evenly distributed. The injected Solyte is also lighter that standard Solyte which adds to the overall weight loss of the shoe.

Incorporated into the shoe’s midsole and outsole, is a special vertical Flex Groove design encourages the foot to maintain a constant line of progression with each stride by following the foot’s centre-of-pressure during its gait cycle, and guiding it to an ideal toe-off position. This supposedly increases running efficiency and decreases fatigue.

I’m sure that the ASICS GEL Kayano 16 will continue to evolve over time as shoe technology develops, however what more can the developers at Asics do to beat this Kayano 16 model?
